Celebrating Businesses That Do Good
People all around the world are jumping on board the idea of social enterprise. The purpose economy. Business as a force for good. Uniting two traditionally opposite aspects of society. It’s an exciting time.
StartSomeGood and CoGround want people to get excited for the good that businesses are doing in Australia. We think it’s something worth getting excited about. More and more idealistic, ambitious and driven people are harmonising the idea of commercial and purposeful, business and beneficial, company and good company. And some of them are making it work. This is totally awesome, and we want to throw a party — that’s how excited we are.
Fete of the World is what it’s called! It’s a celebration of social enterprise, and the chance to kick off 2018 with a bang and fiesta! It’s on January 20th (this Saturday) and the day will be made up of two parts — from 2–7pm we’ll have social enterprise stalls set-up, and this is a chance to check out different social enterprises around Aus (in particular Melbourne), have a chat and get a feel for what they’re up to. It’s a FREE event, but make sure to register (see link below)
From 7–10pm the night will transition into more of a party vibe with a DJ pumpin’ some tunes.
There’ll be food and a great selection of drinks (beer, wine and espresso martinis) for sale all afternoon and evening, and some interesting films playing in a side room throughout the afternoon.
We’ll also have an interview on the hour from 3–6pm, each interview going for around 20mins, with the special guests answering questions around social enterprise and their experiences and thoughts on various topics in this space.
There will be raffle tickets available — the total raffle pool being worth over $3,000! The first prize includes $1,500 credit for full-time or part-time classes at Academy Xi, the school of the future (they teach cutting edge growth marketing, UX, VR programming and more), amongst other goodies. Other prizes include School of Life classes, a Dumbo Feather bundle and an ethical fashion voucher. We’re pumped to have these prizes offered by some of our generous social enterprise partners!
So that’s Fete of the World in a nutshell. Amongst others, some of the social enterprises holding stalls will include Fruit2work, Cream Joe, Tsuno, The Fabric Social, the radical Self-Care Project and Youthworx productions. It’s gonna be great.
