Parramatch 2020: Let’s Build Back Better

Parramatch is a partnership between the City of Parramatta and StartSomeGood to help local community organisations, projects and social enterprises in the City of Parramatta respond to the challenges of COVID-19.

COVID-19 presented many challenges to local communities. Through this program we have selected projects that Build Back Better to create lasting positive change by bringing people together address these challenges.

The selected projects received expert training in pitching, crowdfunding and social media outreach and have now launched their projects via crowdfunding campaigns.

The City of Parramatta is providing $8000 in matched grants funds to be shared across these five crowdfunding campaigns, but only if they reach their funding goals.

So now they need our support!

We are now excited to announce that these 5 crowdfunding campaigns are live and you have the chance to back them:

Second Chance Partnership

Parramatta Mission and Thread Harvest have come together to create the Second Chance Partnership, a way for charities like Parramatta Mission to increase their revenue by leveraging their existing network of schools, churches, clubs and associations to gather clothing, shoes and accessories and selling them in an online op-shop.

They will use the funds to set up an online website and systems for the sale and fulfillment of the goods to customers.

Cycling Without Age Parramatta

Cycling Without Age (CWA) provides a program to connect people who are no longer able to ride a bicycle themselves within their community and the outdoors by giving them free rides on trishaw e-bikes, piloted by volunteer cyclists. The CWA Parramatta chapter is a newly developed service created in 2020 due to community demand.

The program aims to enable individuals living with disability and the elderly to get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and feel connected to their local environment as they feel the wind in their hair.
